Back to Black

It’s been weird adjusting to being back in New York.  And not just to the time difference – although that did have me waking up at five in the morning for at least a week while my body got used to a different time zone.  I miss Paris even more than I thought I would.  But I’m finally starting to get used to New York again, which includes slowly transitioning back into wearing way too much black and denim.  If you’ve been keeping up with my blog or Instagram, you may have noticed that I’ve been flittering around in pastel skirts and bright sundresses, and that’s all fine and good for summer.  But I’m excited for fall, not for the pumpkin spice lattes that will now contain real, actual pumpkin, but for all of the black sweaters and velvet leggings that I’ll be able to wear once it’s cold.  Until then, I’m sticking to sheer tops to survive the New York heat.

Spring Style + Smorgasburg

My best friends will tell you that while I love fashion, my first love is food.  So needless to say, food festivals like Smorgasburg are my absolute favorite place to be on a Sunday morning.  Smorgasburg is a place that I recommend to both fellow New Yorkers and tourists, because it has something for everyone to enjoy: great food, a fun Brooklyn vibe, and a beautiful view of the lower Manhattan skyline.  There are dozens of vendors every weekend, so there’s also something for every taste, whether you’re paleo, vegan, or on an all-carb diet.

is butter a carb

Flowy, loose layers are great for spring, but mostly great for hiding the pudge you get after eating a ramen burger, spicy tuna poke, and a thai tea fudgesicle.  If you’ve been to Smorgasburg, let me know what food is your favorite!

Denim

I love trying new styles and wearing skirts and dresses, but I’m most comfortable in a simple pair of jeans. I like to pair jeans with a denim button down on days when I don’t want to think too hard about finding clothes that match.

Those of us who remember 2001 know that there is a thing as too much denim:

But as long as you don’t own a denim cowboy hat, you’re probably okay.
